It seems your theory had some merit after all. Within the Shopping Gate you will find the Scarlet Maid and Butler Service, owned by yours truly. Though hardly up to par with my personal staff from Gensokyo, I expect nothing other than the absolute best. I can't say I'm entirely surprised that the lessor chose to respond to my desires, of course, but since this was part of your little experiment, the results are clear as day for you to observe yourself.
Keep in mind I still expect you to pay for any services you'd like.
[ It was a conjecture that has been verified more than thrice over now. The Yama is pleased; much more than her calm smile would have shown should this had been video. ] Remilia Scarlet,
I am grateful that you reported this to me. This gives an accurate indication that at the very least it takes nine days for a business to appear. Do tell, how did you receive notification that the building and business was under your ownership?
An ordinary set of documents, alongside details entailing services offered, payment required, employment, and other nonsense. It's all far less troublesome than I would have thought.
This is most helpful. I thank you for your cooperation.
Although now there is another favor for a test I must ask of you- a new theory I have, and a most dangerous one at that. Before I even ask you of this, I shall need to know one thing: your view on the ethics of experimentation. You need not give a complicated answer, but a general one.
Ethics? Yama, I fail to see why the actions of others should concern me. Unless you're implying this experiment of yours would bring harm upon myself; that, is out of the question.
Of course not. Surely you don't take me for some sort of weakling. I happen to know that I'm more than capable of avoiding any serious harm. I have no reason to doubt the ensured safety of my own wellbeing.
[she might not have a clue in the world, but those certainly are some interesting hints that the almighty lawful being is dropping.]
Very well. I have reason to believe that the Lease's claim that all are now mortal is false. There are no hints of secuity or doctors about, indicating that either such a thing is entirely unnecessary should the worst befall anyone, or the Landlord simply does not care. From previous conversations, it appears his sentiments do not reflect the latter. Due to the discrepancy in timelines from where others have been brought from their world, it is entirely possible that some here are already dead. Finally, an anonymous message to the community states that death was avoided.
I do not believe is using others without consent or explanation, but I do believe that sacrifices within reason may be necessary to verify or disprove theories. Therefore, I propose that you kill me here in Holly Heights. The risk for you, of course, is being charged with manslaughter.
Haha! Are you really willing to die for the sake of a stupid little theory? You're certainly far braver than I would have given you credit for, Eiki Shiki. Brave, or deluded.
The laws of this world do not phase me. If you wish to take such a risk, then it would be my pleasure to offer my assistance. Consider it a gift from one youkai to another.
To a certain degree I acknowledge the label of delusion, for it is belief that tips the scale to test this theory. As mentioned before, my theory is not without base. Law and knowledge may be ideals to mortals, but in this instance and under a control, I judge their pursuit as something that requires a high price. Indeed, the sacrifice which causes sorrow to the doer of the sacrifice is no sacrifice. It is of cause and good intentions, one that may lighten and ease the mind of many here, that justifies it. If I do not return, it is also possible that I have simply returned to Gensokyo upon death. [ But it's not entirely courage either. She's lawful. She cares for everyone- and she can't shake the feeling of helping with best intentions, even if most of the residents here aren't under her jurisdiction. She's been doing what she's been doing for far too long, believing in helping others to a fault- her own fault. ]
Theories of this are as valuable as are those which a chick which has not broken its way through its shell might form of the outside world. [ That is to say, don't call 'em foolish. ] Then I shall meet you tonight after ten, at the easternmost park in the Housing Gate.

When shall you be ready to commit to this?

I would call that foolish, but it is your life to throw away. I'll be ready whenever you are, Yama.
